Mercedes Balle is an artist whose research stems from a reflection on sustainability and the lifecycle of artworks. Starting from landscape painting, she has progressively shifted her practice towards the use of waste materials—particularly those from the construction industry—as well as biodegradable materials, transforming them into installations, sculptures, and photographic works.
Her work develops as a response to context, with a strong focus on the dialogue between art, industry, and the environment. Interested in collaborative and interdisciplinary processes, she sees residency programs as an opportunity to foster relationships with the local territory and production realities, expanding the role of the artist beyond the exhibition space.
